CONNECT THE FILTER TO A FAUCET  
1. Remove the aerator from the fauĆ  
cet, FIG. 3A.

the diverter turns, like the end fitĆ

3. Place the filter in the desired locaĆ  
tion on the countertop (the filter  
has a 3 ft water supply tubing  
length). Route the supply tubing  
out of the way.

USING YOUR COUNTERTOP WATER FILTER  
Set a glass, cup, pitcher, or other  
container under the filter spout.  
The spout rotates to any desired  
position.

ward (closed) before opening the

CAUTION: Do not force the divertĆ  
er knob inward while the cold water  
faucet is open. Always close the fauĆ  
cet first, to prevent damaging the diĆ  
verter.  
Open the COLD water faucet and  
adjust to a medium flow.  
Pull the diverter knob outward to  
direct water to the filter.  
Note: The first time you use the filter,  
and whenever you change the carĆ  
bon cartridge, discard the first 2-3  
glasses of filtered water. The filtered  
water may contain some harmless  
carbon particles (``fines'') from the  
new cartridge.  
When the container is full of filĆ  
tered water, close the cold water  
faucet. Then, be sure the diverter  
valve has closed (knob inward).  
CAUTION: Do not direct hot water  
into the countertop filter. Always

REPLACING THE CARBON FILTER CARTRIDGE  
The replaceable carbon cartridge is  
good for up to 1500 gallons offiltered  
water, or up to 6 months. Ifthe water  
supply to your house is poor quality,  
the cartridge may not last that long.  
Always replace the cartridge after:  
you notice the return ofbad taste  
and/or odor in the filtered water.

REPLACING THE CARBON FILTER

To replace the cartridge, do steps 1  
replacing the cartridge, discard the  
first few cupfuls of filtered water  
which may contain harmless carbon  
fines (see note on page 5).

side of the sump. Cleaners are availĆ  
able from Sears (see the parts list on  
page 7), or use hot, soapy water. After
